Services for email, telephony, video conferencing, messaging, and collaborative work.
Video conferencing systems for online meetings, digital teaching, and webinars. Several platforms are available to meet different requirements for participant numbers, features, and data protection.
University members can choose from several video conferencing systems. Cisco Webex is the universal client for meetings and collaboration and is also used for telephony and messaging (Communication (Telephony & Messaging) (COMM-PHONE-1.0)). Microsoft Teams is available for chat and meetings as part of Microsoft 365 (COMM-M365-1.0). Zoom is used in particular for digital teaching. The German Research Network (DFN) provides DFNconf/Pexip for conferences and Adobe Connect for webinars. Participation in external Skype for Business meetings is possible as a guest.
Jade University user account (User Administration (SECID-UADM-1.0)). For DFNconf: DFN access via the organizer portal. For Skype for Business: organizer's invitation link, client installation may be required.
Cisco Webex:
Universal software client for meetings, webinars, and collaboration. The same client is also used for telephony and messaging (Communication (Telephony & Messaging) (COMM-PHONE-1.0)). Available for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.
Microsoft Teams:
Chat, meetings, and collaboration as part of Microsoft 365 (COMM-M365-1.0).

Conference service of the German Research Network with excellent video and audio quality. Maximum 23 participants per conference. Additional streaming option for larger audiences. Access via dedicated VC systems or simple web-based access.

For e-learning events and webinars with up to 200 participants.
Microsoft Skype for Business:
Jade University does not provide its own accounts. Participation in external meetings is possible as a guest via invitation link.

Learning platforms, campus management, ERP systems, room booking, and centrally provided software.
Learning platform for e-learning and course management at Jade University.
Jade University uses the Moodle learning platform for digital teaching management, operated in cooperation with eLeDia. Access is via https://moodle.jade-hs.de using the standard login. The platform supports course management, content delivery, assignments, quizzes, forums, submissions, grading, and communication between lecturers and students. The IT center handles technical operations; content responsibility lies with the lecturers.

Recording, management, and delivery of teaching videos, integrated into the Moodle learning platform.
Opencast enables lecturers (with the Moodle 'Teacher' role) to provide existing videos in Moodle courses or produce new videos with Opencast Studio. Videos can be organized in series and imported into other Moodle courses. The per-file upload limit in Moodle does not apply when using Opencast. Hosting is on servers in Germany.
Please Note:
For good image and sound quality, videos should be uploaded in high quality, as Opencast automatically transforms them into delivery formats.

- OBS (Open Broadcaster Software): open-source software for video recording and live streaming, available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Allows scene switching during recording.
- Camtasia and Snagit: screencasts and video editing for teaching.

Privacy-compliant access to generative AI (ChatGPT) for university members through a didactically designed interface.
HAWKI is a didactically designed interface based on ChatGPT by OpenAI. Jade University members use the platform with their university credentials. No personal data is stored or shared. In addition to a chat area, HAWKI offers the ability to have conversations with fictional experts. Learning rooms help create effective prompts.

Plagiarism search engine that compares texts against online sources – usable by lecturers in Moodle and by students for self-checking.
PlagAware is a plagiarism search engine that compares texts against online document sources. The results report displays found sources graphically, making it easy to verify correct citation. Lecturers can use PlagAware in Moodle for the 'Assignment' activity. Students receive 200 credits (approx. 200 pages) for checking their own work.

Maximum file size: 100 MB per file. Maximum simultaneous uploads: 100. Maximum text length: 1,000,000 characters (approx. 500 pages). Supported formats: .txt, .rtf, .htm, .html, .doc, .docx, .odt, .pdf. Repeated checking via version check without additional credits.

AI-powered translation service based on the DeepL API Pro with enhanced data protection for all university members.
Jade Translations is an AI-powered translation service using the DeepL API Pro, available to all Jade University members for university-related tasks. Unlike the free offerings on deepl.com, texts are not permanently stored when using the API Pro and are not used for training AI models. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place.
Please Note:
Texts subject to separate non-disclosure agreements (NDA) or special confidentiality obligations must not be translated via this service if the respective agreement prohibits disclosure to third parties or data processors. Character limit: 100,000 characters per translation.

- High translation quality – DeepL delivers high-quality translations, enabling multilingual and accessible communication.
- Data protection – Texts are not permanently stored and are not used to train AI models (data processing per Art. 28 GDPR). Translation of confidential or personal content is therefore generally possible.
- Convenient and always available – Translate texts via the web interface without creating a DeepL account. The service is available after login, even from outside the university network.
- Glossary support – University-specific terminology and preferred translations are automatically applied via centrally maintained glossaries.
